WSJ interviews IMF’s Lagarde
Christine Lagarde, head of the International Monetary Fund, had some insightful thoughts on the world’s current economic state. Lagarde sees some improvement on the world economic scene, but also notes need for improvement. Ever the diplomat, Ms. Lagarde doesn’t cast stones at any of the world’s major economic players. Her measured economic assessment is a pleasure to watch in all too often combative atmosphere.

Energy costs could hamper future growth
The economy grew modestly to moderately in late winter. However, increasing energy costs are a source of future growth concern, Reuters reports. The Fed Beige Book report relays fears that rising gas prices could put a damper on discretionary spending in coming months.

Death and taxes intersect on April 15
Bloomberg is reporting that not only are death and taxes inevitable, but they also go hand-in-hand. It would seem that fatal traffic accidents go up 6 percent the week of April 15 – compared to both the week before and the week after.
